Learn more about our PBL gold standard

Project Based Learning (PBL) Units meet all of the following criteria:

  • The project starts with an idea of a final product or presentation which gives a context and reason for the learning that takes place throughout the project.
  • The final product or presentation has a real world purpose.
  • A form of deeper learning takes place during the project, meaning students are learning and also using their knowledge and skills in a way that prepares them for real life.
  • Levels of in-depth inquiry, problem solving or higher order thinking skills are needed during the project.
  • Elements of collaboration and communication are needed.
  • The project includes the opportunity for students to think about their learning through revision and reflection.
At NextLesson we also ensure that all of our content covers significant content, taken from the Common Core State Standards.
