NextLesson Announces Updated Interactive Lesson Platform

New Platform Supports 21st Century Learning by Combining Technology with Applied Learning

SAN FRANCISCO, August 30, 2016 -- NextLesson, a K-12 developer of applied learning resources that make learning personally relevant, today announced the general availability of its interactive lesson platform. The NextLesson platform supports digital classrooms by enabling lessons to be assigned, completed and graded online.

NextLesson’s unique solution engages students in real world problem solving through topics they care about such as movies, books, sports and celebrities. Complementing core adoptions, NextLesson enables students to develop deep understanding of skills and concepts in authentic contexts.

In response to feedback received in beta, the platform now offers a more intuitive interface with new features to support students and teachers. For students, lessons now have text-to-speech audio and glossary terms with accompanying images to provide additional support for all learners. Students can also submit responses as they progress and receive feedback from their teachers. For teachers, a new student Submissions View provides a better way to assess student progress. Teachers can view timestamped responses listed by question or student, see suggested answers, score student work and download responses as a CSV file. All users will benefit from a toolbar with easy access to lesson navigation, tools, sharing and download options.

“To prepare students for the real world, NextLesson creates applied learning opportunities which develop critical thinking and technology skills,” said Dion Lim, Founder and CEO of NextLesson. “Now our platform offers a foundation for better delivery and grading of lessons for teachers and additional support for students, particularly struggling readers and English language learners.”

An initial set of Performance Tasks is now available on the new platform with the migration of Rank & Reason®, Projects, Activities and Worksheets to follow.
